On February 12th Inspector Haws and City Electrical Inspector Dave Johnson went to Ranch House Way for a solar inspection. The contractor did not provide a ladder that is required to inspect the job, per city ordinance. Instead of cancelling on the homeowners, Inspector Haws invited the ladder truck to train on setup and learn about solar inspections as well as fire hazards associated with solar energy. The #2 shift ladder company safely and effectively laddered the house and allowed for both inspectors to perform their duties. Once safely down, Inspector Johnson educated crews on emergency shutoff, solar energy systems, and parts of the electrical system/markings. The city pulled together resources to benefit the public, the inspectors, as well as the firefighters.
May education in the name safety continue to grow and encompass all aspects of city entities. Thank you to all involved.
